For many years I often thought, of passing comments and moments-in-time, ‘that would make a great story!’ But I didn’t start seriously until 2012, after a writing course gave me the motivation to just get stuck in.

I’ve always loved the notion of family scandals and skeletons. This has lead me to embark on a work of historical fiction, Southern Gold, set in my home town Dunedin during the 1860s gold rush era. It is due to be e-published October 2016, with hard copy publication after that. A sequel is in the planning, set 1890-1920. So much history and intrigue, so little time to write. (So much time to make excuses to avoid it!)

I also enjoy the challenge of writing short stories, developing a meaningful tale within in a tight space. This is probably because I’m not very strategic, so this genre challenges me to focus in a creative way. A Few Words is due to appear in New Zealand Memories during 2015, and this wouldn’t happened without the IWW workshops, competitions and excellent judges.
